Our ecosystem development work involves bringing governments, payers, providers, technology companies, standards organizations, and civil society together around a shared, person-centered path. It's some of the hardest and most important work we do.

We contribute technical expertise, implementation experience, and coordination to help partners move from standards to practical use.

Significant Ecosystems We've Built, Helped Lead or Participated In

Vaccination Credential Initiative (VCI)
We co-founded and co-led VCI alongside Apple, Cigna, Mayo Clinic, Microsoft, MITRE, and other organizations. The initiative developed and advanced SMART Health Cards (SHC) as a common approach for issuing and presenting verifiable health information. Today, SHCs are available to 500 million+ people worldwide.

CommonTrust Network
We developed the CommonTrust Network to support the discovery and verification of health-data issuers using SMART Health Cards and SMART Health Links.

CARIN Alliance Collaboration
We contribute to CARIN Alliance work related to patient access, consumer-directed exchange, and the CARIN Digital Insurance Card, including supporting its development and advancement through the HL7 standards process.

JupyterHealth Community
Launched with UCSF, UC Berkeley, TCP, Duke, 2i2c, and Project Jupyter, this multi-institution open-source community now spans hypertension, heart failure, metabolic health, respiratory health, and perioperative monitoring.

Africa Health Tech Summit 
As a founding partner, we sponsored the inaugural Summit in 2022 and continued supporting it in subsequent years. The event brought together policymakers, health leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, funders, and technology innovators from across Africa and beyond to advance collaboration, investment, and practical action in digital health.
