USA: The Commons Project Foundation
Making patient access real across the United States
We work to ensure that everyone, not only people with the best apps, insurance coverage, or access to highly connected health systems, can access and use their own health information.
Our U.S. work brings together open standards, trusted infrastructure, and practical technology to help people access, carry, and share their health data wherever they need it.
The Commons Project Foundation is a New York-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Why Patient Access Still Falls Short
The United States generates enormous amounts of digital health data, but access remains fragmented. A person’s information may be spread across hospitals, physician practices, health plans, pharmacies, laboratories, government programs, and personal devices.
Although many organizations now offer digital access, the experience is inconsistent. People may need multiple portals and apps, encounter disconnected systems, or find that their information cannot easily move with them.
Our goal is to make patient access work for everyone in practice: across institutions, technologies, and care settings.
